June 9, 2025 –The John C. Hart Memorial Library will launch its annual Summer Reading Game on June 27th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The Summer Reading Game encourages and celebrates the joy of reading throughout the summer months. This initiative is particularly crucial for younger children, helping them maintain and enhance their reading skills as they transition to the next grade level.

The kickoff event on the last day of school will feature carnival games, a wizard bouncy house, a craft table, local firetruck and free popcorn. Participants will receive reading logs and book recommendations tailored to their age and interests.

“As summer begins and school doors close, the public library opens its arms to students and families, offering a vibrant space to nurture reading skills and spark imagination. Through our participation in the national summer reading program—and in partnership with local businesses—we’re excited to offer fun incentives that motivate students to read all summer long. Our reading logs help track progress, and we share these achievements with schools each fall. This is a wonderful, literacy-rich program for the whole family to enjoy together—adults are welcome to join in the fun, too!” said Yvonne Cech, Library Director.
