The Town of Yorktown is served by four excellent school districts; the Croton-Harmon School District, the Ossining Union Free School District, the Lakeland Central School District, and the Yorktown Central School District.

Public School Districts

Croton-Harmon School District

Parts of Cortlandt, Yorktown, Ossining, and Village of Croton-on-Hudson

The school district encompasses parts of the Towns of Cortlandt, Yorktown, and Ossining and includes the Village of Croton-on-Hudson. The district population is approximately 15,000, with more than 1,550 students expected to attend the Croton-Harmon for the 2025 school year. The district includes one, grade K-4 elementary school; one, grade 5-8 middle school; and one, grade 9-12 high school.

Ossining Union Free School District

Parts of Yorktown, New Castle, Briarcliff Manor, Ossining, and the Village of Ossining

The Ossining Union Free School District encompasses parts of the Towns of Yorktown, New Castle, Briarcliff Manor, Ossining, and the Village of Ossining. The Ossining Union Free School District, nationally recognized for its award-winning and innovative programs, serves about 4,900 students in six schools that are organized by grade level: Park Early Childhood Center (pre-kindergarten and kindergarten); Brookside School (grades 1 and 2); Claremont School (grades 3 and 4); Roosevelt School (grade 5); Anne M. Dorner Middle School; and Ossining High School.

Lakeland Central School District

Parts of Yorktown, Cortlandt, Somers, Carmel, Philipstown, and Putnam Valley

Lakeland is a suburban school district located in the Northwest corner of Westchester County and Southern Putnam County. It includes parts of six towns: Yorktown, Cortlandt, and Somers in Westchester County; Carmel, Philipstown, and Putnam Valley in Putnam County. The student population is expected to be approximately 5,300 in 2025-2026. Lakeland’s five elementary schools educate students in grades K-5. The Lakeland Copper Beech Middle School educates students in grades 6-8. Our 9th through 12th graders attend either Lakeland High School or Walter Panas High School.

Yorktown Central School District

Parts of Yorktown, Cortlandt, and New Castle

The Yorktown School District encompasses a large part of the Town of Yorktown and small sections of Cortlandt and New Castle. The district includes two, grade K-3 elementary schools; one, grade 4-5 elementary school; one, grade 6-8 middle school; and one grade 9-12 high school. The Yorktown Central School District has an enrollment of approximately 3,400 students.
