Refuse & Recycling
The Refuse & Recycling Department is responsible for all scheduled and special bulk trash pickups, as well as the seasonal leaf and Christmas tree pickups. The Department also oversees the household garbage and recycling collections for residential properties that are contracted out. Commercial properties are responsible for contracting for their own garbage collection and recycling. The Department sells green recycle containers for each household and biodegradable paper leaf bags. In addition, the Department maintains a drop off for rechargeable batteries and oversees both the “Adopt a Road” program, the annual volunteer “Battle of Yorktown," and "The Great Fall Clean Up" initiatives that removes litter and debris from the Town’s roadsides.
