Lake Day at Mohegan Lake

Lake Mohegan once again celebrates Lake Day with a full series of free activities for both kids and adults on Saturday July 12th (rain date Sunday July 13th). This year’s theme is “Celebrating our Lake Communities,” with “communities” including not only the people and history, but the ecosystem including fish and phytoplankton, birds including hawks, cormorants, and great blue herons, and animals including red fox and bobcats. The day starts with a hike in Tall Timbers park, followed by a kids’ fishing derby, various games and arts and crafts activities, and a wildlife demonstration.  The evening events include the Wrappers Delight food truck, “Soul Line Dancing” with instructor Steve Dillard, a performance and sing-a-long with the Clearwater Walkabout Chorus, Chinese floating lanterns set free on the lake at dark, and a showing of Episode 4 of the Peekskill Riots documentary series, followed by a Q&A with the (local) filmmaker. Take a ride on the “water taxi” and visit communities around the lake you have never seen before. Six different beaches are taking part in 2025 in this annual event sponsored by the Mohegan Lake Improvement District.
