Sportime Pickleball Cuts Ribbon on Yorktown Facility
October 29, 2025—Pickleball is booming with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Sportime Pickleball Yorktown.
The October 22 event drew a crowd of local enthusiasts, Yorktown Town Board members and officials from the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce, who all celebrated a major new investment in the local sports community.
“The opening of Sportime Pickleball isn't just a win for local sports enthusiasts; it's a critical piece of our strategy to revitalize vacant commercial spaces,” said Supervisor Ed Lachterman. “Economic development is about attracting quality tenants and maximizing the potential of our properties, which in turn strengthens our tax base and provides new energy for our entire community.”
The new facility at 355 Downing Drive in the Yorktown Green Shopping Center is a dedicated, climate-controlled haven for pickleball players, featuring 12 state-of-the-art courts.
“We’re excited that you guys are here. This place is just incredible and it’s amazing how pickleball has taken off,” said Deputy Supervisor Sergio Esposito.
Sportime occupies space in a former Kmart building that sat empty for years. A massive overhaul of the Yorktown Green Shopping Center has attracted new retailers and big crowds of shoppers.
“Thank you for investing in Yorktown. This town is flourishing now because of people like you,” said Councilman Patrick Murphy, addressing Sportime general manager Marnie Rose.
The September soft opening of Sportime means that the shopping center is almost full, a sharp contrast to the mostly empty mall in 2020.
“This is a fantastic resource,” said Westchester County Legislator Vedat Gashi. “Thank you for finding a use for this space, which otherwise might have lain fallow.”
Beyond the playing surfaces, Sportime Pickleball Yorktown offers a premium experience with modern locker rooms, a well-stocked pro shop, a grab-and-go station for healthy snacks and beverages, and two private event spaces.
