Taghkanic Chorale Hosts Summer Sing
The Taghkanic Chorale is inviting singers to join in a fun, informal sing-through of selections from Haydn’s Creation on Thursday, August 14, from 7:30 to 9:00 pm in Yorktown Heights.“We welcome singers of any skill level to share the joy of singing great choral music,” says Jason Tramm, the Chorale’s music director. The Sing will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Yorktown at 2880 Crompond Road (Route 202) in Yorktown Heights, in the main sanctuary. Music will be available or singers can bring their own, and water will be provided. The fee is $15 ($10 for students)
Prospective singers are also invited to join the Chorale for its Fall season which features Handel’s Dixit Dominus, the sixth cantata from Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, and motets by Praetorius, Brahms, and Mendelssohn. Rehearsals begin Tuesday, September 2 for the December 13-14 performances in Cortlandt Manor, NY. Thanks to a generous grant from the New York Community Trust, the program - entitled Rejoice and Sing! Choral Masterworks for the Season - will be accompanied by a sizable orchestra of professional musicians performing on period instruments.
The Taghkanic Chorale is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization that has served avocational singers and concert goers from Westchester, Putnam, and the lower-Hudson Valley for 58 years. For further information visit www.taghkanicchorale.org.
