The Yorktown Museum presents: First Community LEGO® Building Competition
Key Dates:
- July 2—Entry forms must be received by 3 pm
- July 14 - July 18—Submissions can be dropped off M - F, 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
- July 21—Entries will be judged at 1 pm on Monday.
- Sept 2 – Sept 5—Pick up builds from 9am – 4pm
Categories and Rules for the community LEGO® competition:
- You do not need to have your build completed when you register for the competition. However, your build must be complete and ready for judging when brought to the museum.
- Entries will be on view at the Yorktown Museum until August 31st
There are three age categories:
- Children 5-10 and families/teens 11- 17/adults 18+
- Submissions cannot be larger than two 48 x 48 stud (15 x 15 inches) LEGO® base plates for a total of (15 x 30 inches).
- We encourage the use of LEGO® brand bricks, but submissions can be made from other brick types. Submissions made from non-brick materials such as K’nex or Magna-Tiles will not be accepted.
How will the entries be judged?
- Lego entries will be judged at 1 pm on Monday July 21. Judges will look for originality, commitment to the MASTERPIECES theme, and technical difficulty through the use of varied LEGO® bricks and elements.
- Prizes will be awarded for the 1stplace entry in each age category.
Everyone who visits the Yorktown Museum from August 1 - 31, 2025 will get a chance to vote for their favorite contest entry. This winner becomes our People’s Choice Winner and will receive a prize, too!
Contestants need not be present to win.
One submission per person, please.
The Yorktown Museum holds discretion on entry selection and will not include any builds deemed inappropriate. The museum does not take responsibility for broken or damaged builds. Images taken of your build may be used in the Museum’s eNewsletters, social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook), website, and in print materials.
