Yorktown Water District - Lead Service Line Inventory Notice Distributed

On July 1, 2025, The Yorktown Consolidated Water District #1 was found to be in violation for Failure to develop and/or submit an acceptable Initial Lead Service Line Inventory by the October 10, 2024 deadline. (Violation of 40 C.F.R. 141.84 (a) and 141.90(e).

The Yorktown Consolidated Water District does not have any known lead service lines. Yorktown’s water service lines are required to be made of copper.

The notice was distributed as per USEPA & NYS Department of Health regulations because an Initial Lead Service Line Inventory (required from all water districts nationally) of the YWD's approximately 10,000 accounts was not completed by its deadline.

An extension was granted to complete the inventory & it is due later this year.

Once the inventory is completed & approved by the USEPA and the New York State Department of Health, it will be accessible for homeowners on the District's website.

As we continue to go through records for each home in Yorktown, if a particular parcel's service line  needs further investigation we would immediately contact the homeowner to gain access into the home to  visually verify the service line's composition.

The District does not provide lead testing for individual homes. We test for lead on a schedule & at sites approved in advance by the Westchester County Department of Health & USEPA. This schedule does not allow us to vary from those established addresses.

As part of the USEPA's regulation,  you may receive a duplicate notification by mail in October. This notification is required to be mailed 90 days after the initial notification.

If you have any further questions,  please contact Asst. Water Distribution Superintendent Jeffrey Dahlke @ 914-245-6111 Ext. 631 or [email protected]

Thank you.
