Kitchen Trash Info & Holiday Schedule

Kitchen Trash is picked up twice per week on predesignated days by the Town of Yorktown's contractor.

"Kitchen Trash" includes the food and wrappers that you empty from your kitchen and bathroom trash pails. Please do not dispose of any yard waste, bulk trash, recyclables, construction or demolition debris in with Kitchen Trash; garbage cans with unacceptable debris will not be emptied.

Garbage cans with secure lids, should be placed at your curb no later than 6:00 AM in a neat, orderly fashion. Please note that it is acceptable to place your garbage cans curbside the night before your collection.

Garbage cans must be removed from curbside enclosures prior to 6:00 AM; sanitation workers will not remove or replace cans in enclosures.

New Year’s Day - Thursday, January 1, 2026: No Kitchen Refuse or Recycling
Thursday collections will be picked up on Wednesday, December 31
All other collections will remain the same

Martin Luther King Day – Monday, January 19: No Kitchen Refuse or Recycling
Monday collections will be picked up on Tuesday, January 20
Tuesday collections will be picked up on Wednesday, January 21
All other collections will remain the same

FEBRUARY

Presidents’ Day – Monday, February 16:   No Kitchen Refuse or Recycling
Monday collections will be picked up on Tuesday, February 17
Tuesday collections will be picked up on Wednesday, February 18
All other collections will remain the same

MAY

Memorial Day – Monday, May 25:  No Kitchen Refuse or Recycling
Monday collections will be picked up on Tuesday, May 26
Tuesday collections will be picked up on Wednesday, May 27
All other collections will remain the same

JULY

Independence Day – Saturday, July 4:  NO CHANGES!

SEPTEMBER

Labor Day – Monday, September 7:  No Kitchen Refuse or Recycling
Monday collections will be picked up on Tuesday, September 8
Tuesday collections will be picked up on Wednesday, September 9
All other collections will remain the same

OCTOBER

Columbus Day – Monday, October 12:  No Kitchen Refuse or Recycling
Monday collections will be picked up on Tuesday, October 13
Tuesday collections will be picked up on Wednesday, October 14
All other collections will remain the same

NOVEMBER

Thanksgiving – Thursday, November 26: No Kitchen Refuse or Recycling
Thursday collections will be picked up on Wednesday, November 25
All other collections will remain the same

DECEMBER

Christmas – Thursday, December 25, 2025: No Kitchen Refuse or Recycling
Thursday collections will be picked up on Wednesday, December 24, 2025
