Yorktown is a Purple Heart Town

The Purple Heart is a U.S. military decoration awarded to service members who have been wounded or killed in action against an enemy. On August 7, 2013, Eugene Lang, Neil Gross, Dale Novak, the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 21 New York, and the Town Board held a ceremony designating Yorktown as a Purple Heart Town. This designation signifies our community's dedication to honoring Purple Heart recipients and all veterans who have served. 

Town Board Resolution dated August 6, 2013
Whereas, the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 21 has requested the Town Board officially proclaim the Town of Yorktown officially a Purple Heart Town;

Therefore be it resolved, that the Town Board of the Town of Yorktown accepts the recommendation of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 21 and proclaims the Town of Yorktown officially a “Purple Heart Town”.
