Revolutionary Yorktown 250
The Town of Yorktown has condemned a derelict tire shop in Shrub Oak.The building at 1378 E. Main Street once housed a business called Under Care, but it has been vacant and deteriorating since at least 2009. The town’s condemnation order gives the property owner 30 days to either demolish the structure or begin comprehensive renovations to bring it up to code.
As the nation prepares to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the dawn of the American Revolution, Yorktown officials will put local history in the center stage.
The Town of Yorktown will hold its annual Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony tonight at 6 p.m. This year’s event features guest speaker and author Joseph Gosler, who will share his harrowing and poignant journey as a "hidden child" in the occupied Netherlands during World War II.
