Cooling Centers Open in Yorktown
The John C. Hart Memorial Library and the Albert A. Capellini Community & Cultural Center will serve as cooling centers on Wednesday and Thursday in response to high temperatures.
Daytime highs are predicted to reach the mid-90s on Wednesday and Thursday.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the Hart library at 1130 E. Main Street will be open from 9:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. The library will be closed on Friday and Saturday in observance of Independence Day.
The Capellini center at 1974 Commerce Street will be open Wednesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The town’s pools will be open from noon until 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, the pools will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“Yorktown also has a bounty of private businesses that offer fun and social cooling experiences,” said Supervisor Ed Lachterman. “These businesses include coffee shops, the Jefferson Valley Mall and other major shopping destinations that will be open throughout the holiday weekend.”
