The Yorktown Water District is scheduled to flush fire hydrants on the following streets on 10/08/26, 8 AM - 5 PM (barring any emergencies):

Lexington Ave. from Dyckman Dr. south, Crompond Rd. from Lexington Pinebrook, Garden Lane, Old Crompond Rd. south of RT202, Catherine St., Field St., Jacob Rd., Jordan Dr., Oscar Ct,, Hunterbrook Rd., Mill Pond Rd., Boundbrook Dr., Susan and Linette Cts.

Upon completion, please flush your cold water should you have any discolored or cloudy water. Thank you for your cooperation.

The Yorktown Water District will begin flushing fire hydrants beginning Monday October 5, 2026, weekdays between the hours of 8 AM - 5 PM (barring any emergencies).

Fire hydrants are flushed to maintain water quality by removing sediment, rust, and mineral deposits from water pipes. This routine maintenance also ensures proper water pressure and verifies that the hydrant will function correctly in an emergency. It further reduces bacterial growth by restoring chlorine levels in the distribution system.

It is recommended that residents refrain from doing laundry while hydrant flushing is occurring in your neighborhood.  Once flushing is completed on your street, please run you cold water to clear out any possible discoloration.

The flushing area comprises streets located west of the Taconic State Parkway.

Streets scheduled to be flushed will be posted daily on the Town's Website www.yorktownny.gov

No Collections on Monday, October 12th - Columbus Day

Monday collections will be picked up on Tuesday, October 13th
Tuesday collections will be picked up on Wednesday, October 14th
All other collections will remain the same

Please make sure all your pails are curbside by 6AM on your collection day

The Town of Yorktown, in partnership with Lights of Tomorrow, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Jewish youth, will host a solemn commemoration ceremony to honor and memorialize the victims of the October 7th terror attacks in Israel.

The Westchester County Department of Health will sponsor a free rabies vaccine clinic for pets on Saturday, September 26, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the SPCA of Westchester, 590 North State Road in Briarcliff Manor.
