Junior Lake Pool Set to Open Saturday for the 2026 Season

The unofficial start of summer arrives in Yorktown this Saturday as the Junior Lake Pool opens for the 2026 season.

Located at 1939 Edgewater St., the popular community hub is ready to welcome residents looking to beat the heat, stay active, and enjoy the water.

“Providing our community with access to safe, clean swimming facilities is vital for promoting physical fitness across all age groups,” said Supervisor Ed Lachterman. “More importantly, teaching our children basic swimming skills is an essential investment in their safety. These are foundational, lifesaving skills that prevent tragedies and build confidence that lasts a lifetime.”

The pool will remain open through Sunday, August 16. The 2026 schedule is:

Weekends and holidays: 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Weekdays from May 25 to June 5: Closed

Weekdays from June 8 to June 26: 3 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Weekdays from June 29 to August 14: Noon until 7 p.m.

Residents are reminded that a valid 2026 Pool Pass is strictly required for entry to the facility. No individual will be admitted without a valid physical or digital ID card.

  • How to Purchase: Passes can be bought online via Community Pass or in person at the Recreation Office.
  • Proof of Residency: Applicants must submit proof of residency either online through a household account or in person at the Recreation Office.
  • Digital Passes: For added convenience, pool memberships can now be downloaded digitally directly to smartphones.
  • Returning Swimmers: ID cards issued between 2021 and 2025 can be automatically reactivated upon purchase of a 2026 pass, as long as card holders are renewing the same type of membership from previous years.
