Yorktown Grange Fair Begins September 11

The 102nd annual Yorktown Grange Fair will run for three days starting September 11.

Attendees can see blue ribbon contests, educational exhibits, and artisan vendors. Audience participation contests include watermelon eating, rubber chicken throwing, pie eating, and bubble gum blowing. The Mile-Long Tractor Parade (Saturday at noon) is back, along with hayrides.

This year’s hours are 4 to 11 p.m. on September 11; 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on September 12; and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on September 13. Quiet hours to accommodate those with special needs are from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

There’s plenty of live music adults will love on the main stage, delicious food and craft beer from local vendors to enjoy, with the Midway rides as a colorful backdrop for an amazing evening under the stars. The fair’s musical highlights include rock and pop favorites at 7 p.m. on Friday night with the Mike Risko Band; country band Whiskey’s Edge at 3:30 p.m. and rock band Alex Nikki and Jokerz Wild at 8 p.m. on Saturday; and rockers No Options at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Kid-friendly events range from Kurt Gallagher’s Songs for Playful Children on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to Wacky Chad’s interactive stunt shows at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday and 1:15 p.m., 2:45 p.m., and 6:15 p.m. on Sunday. There are horse riding demonstrations and lots of animals to see up close. Meet the Fair mascot, Belle the goat, and all her friends.
