Yorktown Summer Finale Celebrates America's 250th Anniversary with Fireworks
The Town of Yorktown and the Yorktown Lions Club will conclude a summer of America 250 celebrations with a spectacular fireworks show and free concert on August 23.
This free, family-friendly event at the Jack DeVito Field Veterans Plaza double-bills as a Veterans Appreciation Concert and a pyrotechnic tribute to America’s 250th birthday, which the Revolutionary Yorktown 250 Committee commemorated all year.
“The committee’s gatherings allowed our residents to connect deeply with Yorktown’s rich history and reflect on the pivotal role our town played in securing American independence,” said Town Supervisor Ed Lachterman. “This spectacular fireworks display will bring to life the 'rockets’ red glare' from the Star-Spangled Banner, serving as a vivid reminder of the sacrifices made by the veterans of the Revolutionary War and all subsequent conflicts.”
Festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. with headliners Tramps Like Us, the acclaimed Bruce Springsteen tribute band, delivering high-energy anthems that salute American rock 'n' roll traditions. The concert also features performances by The Golden Apple Chorus and vocalist Alyssa Martin, bringing rich harmonies and soul to this patriotic homage.
Beyond the music, attendees can explore local artisan vendors and grab a bite from a variety of delicious food trucks. The party happens rain or shine; in the event of inclement weather, the concert performances will smoothly transition indoors to the nearby Yorktown Stage.
The fireworks begin around 8:30 p.m. after the concert. Bring lawn chairs and blankets, invite your neighbors, and gather at Veterans Plaza for an unforgettable night of entertainment, gratitude, and tribute.
Veterans Plaza is located at 208-264 Veterans Road in Yorktown Heights.
