Yorktown's Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony is April 16
The Town of Yorktown will host a talk by Holocaust survivor and author Joseph Gosler on April 16 for its annual Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony.
Gosler, of New York City, is the author of Searching for Home: The Impact of WWII on a Hidden Child (Jewish Children in the Holocaust). The book describes Gosler’s experience as a hidden Jewish child in the Netherlands who after the country’s liberation was reunited with war-traumatized parents he did not know.
Gosler will give an overview of occupied Holland at the time of his birth, read excerpts from his memoir, then take questions.
“Every survivor has a different story that is full of value and helps to give us an understanding of the results of hate and persecution. I find these remembrances to be not only thought provoking, but an insight of what the results of the decisions we make as elected officials can lead to,” said Supervisor Ed Lachterman.
The Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony is on Thursday, April 16 at 6 p.m. at Town Hall, 363 Underhill Ave., Yorktown Heights.
