The Yorktown Consolidated Water District will be flushing fire hydrants IN THE HEIGHTS BUSINESS AREA Monday evening 05/18/26, between the hours of 10:00 PM & 5:00 AM on the following streets:

Parts of Crompond Rd. Saw Mill River Rd. Kear St. Underhill Ave. French Hill Rd. Overhill St. Commerce St. Rochambeau Dr. (adjacent roads), Cardinal Ct. Front St. Downing Dr. Veterans Rd. & parts of Maple Hill St. Additional nearby streets may be added as the flushing progresses Monday night. 

Your water may be discolored during the hydrant flushing. Try to avoid doing laundry during this period. Upon completion, please flush your cold-water line until clear should you experience discolored water.

The Northern Westchester Joint Water Work's (NWJWW) Amawalk Reservoir Water Filter Treatment Plant is currently offline.

All potable water being delivered to Yorktown Water District customers is presently being supplied by the NWJWW's Catskill Aqueduct Water Filter Treatment Plant.

Fire hydrants are flushed to maintain water quality by removing sediment, rust, and mineral deposits from water pipes. This routine maintenance also ensures proper water pressure and verifies that the hydrant functions correctly in an emergency. It further reduces bacterial growth by restoring chlorine levels in the distribution system.

It is recommended that residents refrain from doing laundry while hydrant flushing is occurring in your neighborhood.  Once flushing is completed on your street, please run you cold water to clear out any possible discoloration.

The flushing area corresponds to parts of the Refuse & Recycling Department's Sections 3, 6 & 7.

Streets scheduled to be flushed will be posted daily on the Town's Website www.yorktownny.gov Thank you for your cooperation.

The Yorktown Water District has received calls regarding Water Service Line Insurance mailings. These cards are not from the Yorktown Water District. They are marketing mailings selling service line insurance and appear to be from a legitimate company. 

Third graders from the Brookside Elementary School visited the Yorktown Water District on November 13, 2025. The students were met by Water Superintendent Paul Vasillo & Water Meter Foreperson James Waterhouse.
