Amawalk Water Filter Treatment Plant Temporarily Offline

The Northern Westchester Joint Water Works have temporarily taken their Amawalk Water Filter Treatment Plant offline.

All residents within the Yorktown Water District are receiving their potable water from the N.W.J.W.W's Catskill Water Filter Treatment Plant.

When a water filter treatment plant is taken offline the system hydraulics may change & flows may reverse in certain water mains. This (and the change is typical water sources) can affect the smell or taste of drinking water temporarily. There isn't a health concern in this scenario. The water is simply coming from another source & it's water chemistry is different. Treatment may require increased chlorine levels.

When the N.W.J.W.W. notify us that the Amawalk Water Filter Treatment Plant is back in service, we will update this webpage. Thank you.
