The Old Crompond Bridge was finally reopened today replacing a 106-year-old structure. A severe storm in 2023 damaged the bridge, requiring its replacement.

Yorktown will reopen the Old Crompond Road Bridge on Friday, December 19th at 9 AM after the completion of a culvert replacement. 

Beginning Wednesday, December 3, 2025 have your child write a letter to Santa Claus—North Pole and place it in the SANTA’S MAILBOX located at the front entrance to Town Hall. This program is sponsored by the Town Clerk’s  Office & the Yorktown Museum. 

If your child would like a response from one of Santa’s helpers, please deliver your letter no later than Friday, December 19th and don’t forget to include your return address in your letter!

The Town of Yorktown received permission to continue the replacement work from state Department of Environmental Conservation. Environmental regulations protecting stream trout and wildlife in the area limited the replacement work over the past two years to four months annually.
