Yorktown will commemorate the 245th anniversary of the Battle of Pines Bridge on Saturday, May 2nd with a massive living history event. The day honors a unit that included African American soldiers who fought for a nation that had not yet granted them full freedom.

The Town of Yorktown has condemned a derelict tire shop in Shrub Oak.The building at 1378 E. Main Street once housed a business called Under Care, but it has been vacant and deteriorating since at least 2009. The town’s condemnation order gives the property owner 30 days to either demolish the structure or begin comprehensive renovations to bring it up to code.
