    Yorktown Opens New Playground at Blackberry Woods

    Yorktown inaugurated a new playground on Wednesday at Blackberry Woods. The new children’s playground has a colorful jungle gym and a swing set made by Miracle Recreation. The playground gear is set atop a soft surface to minimize fall injuries to small children.

    The Garden Club of Yorktown is almost finished with the second phase of a new native-species garden at Veteran Memorials Circle. The pollinator garden is a formal, demonstration garden in the circle that educates the public while honoring veterans by using hardy native species that represent the resilience of the American spirit.

    Yorktown Responds to High School Students’ Paving Request

    Yorktown High School students will have a smooth start to the academic year after a major facelift for a commuter parking lot next to the campus. Resurfacing work at the Downing Park commuter parking lot began on Monday with crew laying new asphalt. The approximately $250,000 rehabilitation is expected to be completed by the end of the week, and the lot will be fully striped by the first day of school.

    Yorktown inaugurated a renovated pickleball facility on Monday at Tom Diana Park at the Granite Knolls Recreation & Sports Complex. The pickleball facility includes six courts with new, high-quality court surfaces, fresh painting, durable 8-foot-high fencing, and overhead lighting that allows for night games.
