Tax Receiver

Under the direction of the Receiver of Taxes, the Tax Department is responsible for compiling, printing, collating and mailing tax bills for all parcels located within the Town of Yorktown. The Department collects all taxes levied by the Town, including special district taxes such as fire, parks, sewer and water, as well as county and school taxes for the parts of the Town located within the Yorktown, Lakeland, Croton and Ossining school districts. It also collects payments of all water bills.

Property owners in the Town of Yorktown can expect to receive two tax bills a year. New York State law provides that a property owner is not relieved of the responsibility for payment of taxes or interest prescribed by law (New York State Real Property Tax Law, Section 922) despite the failure to receive a notice of such taxes due. With or without a bill, it is the responsibility of the homeowner to follow up on their taxes. Register to receive email notifications of tax bills, receipts, and reminders.

School tax bills are mailed in September and due by September 30th. Our county allows for “installment” payments, but this does not change the penalty schedule if you fail to meet the installment deadlines. If you miss the second installment, the penalty is based upon the September 30 due date and immediately jumps to 10%.
