Building

The Administrative responsibility of the Building Inspector consists of interpreting and enforcing the zoning ordinances and State building codes. This involves issuing building permits, certificates of occupancy, posting violations of the Town's zoning ordinances, and authorizing the condemnation of buildings.

IMPORTANT CODE UPDATE

New York State Building & Energy Code Update

The New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and the State Energy Conservation Construction Code have been updated and adopted by the New York State Fire Prevention and Building Code Council.

Effective Date

All new construction, alterations, and permit applications submitted on or after December 31, 2025 must comply with the 2025 NYS Uniform Code and Energy Code.

What Has Changed

The 2020 NYS Codes have been repealed and replaced with the 2025 editions, including:

Permit Applications

Applications filed before December 31, 2025 will be reviewed under the 2020 NYS Codes.
Applications filed on or after December 31, 2025 must comply with the 2025 NYS Codes.
