Yorktown Police Department

The Town of Yorktown is served by the Yorktown Police Department. The Department’s services fall into three distinct categories: law enforcement including investigating criminal activity, arresting offenders and recovering property; emergency services including responding to traffic accidents, providing first aid to the sick and injured and dispatching emergency services; and non-emergency services including the DARE program, School Resource Officer Program, Public Safety Officer, Animal Control, fingerprinting services for pistol permits, licenses and travel documents.

Animal Control

All animal-related complaints, investigations and licensing ordinance enforcement is handled by Animal Control/Community Service Worker Kristin Bohler of the Yorktown Police Department. CSW Bohler maintains records related to animal licenses and may capture and impound unlicensed stray animals. Please note that when the Community Service Worker is not on-duty, a Yorktown Police patrol officer will respond for any urgent animal-related complaint.

First Responders Alert Registry

The First Responders Alert Registry is a unique plan to assist residents with special needs in emergency situations. The goal of this program is to reduce emotional trauma, fear and conflict when first responders have contact with special needs residents by providing responders with essential information before arriving.
